My mother is diagnosed with early onset dementia and we have consulted doctor and doctor has prescribed medicines last month with tablets donep m forte, gincocer plus, b29lc, frensdon 0.5. We had given the medicines but later after someday she was getting dull and had restless legs during day time. But she was good sleep during night time. Again we consulted doctor saying she has become too dull, now the doctor after checkup prescribed the tablets adesam 200 mg, pacitane 2 mg, pramipexole 0.5 mg, donep m forte, ignicar syrup. We are giving these medicines from last 3 days. She has become too much active, such that her hands are shaking talking alone myself, also she has lost sleep she has not slept from last 3 days. Again we have consulted doctor the doctor has prescribed clzpam to have during night in addition to above medicines. But too she is not able to sleep last night. What I should do should I continue with the medicines or not. What if the patient could not sleep from last 3-4 d?

Hi Lybrate-User, all the medicine you mentioned are the psychiatric drug whereas your mother requires more of neurological and neuropsychological help. First of all, show your mother to a neuro-psychologist for the detailed work-up to understand whether it is dementia or any other psychiatric issue, second take her for neurological help with the neuro-psychological report. As it's well known that dementia is a non-curable disease and medicine only help to slow down the speed of progression. End of the day management is the only thing we can focus upon so after the drug starts for dementia she can be taken up for cognitive rehabilitation and management related to it, again based upon the neuropsychological evaluation. Kindly get in touch if in case need any other help.

Hello, these medicines make a person inactive and drowsy but does not cure dementia. I would suggest you to start with homoeopathic treatment as many patients suffering from psychological and psyciatric diseases are benefitted from the same.
