The swelling is due to retention of sodium and water in copd and cardiac failure. The electrolyte balance in this situation is delicate particularly age and the weather dytor helps but caution advised. A physicians or pulmonologist to be consulted and s few blood tests to check the electrolyte balance and associated chemistry.
