Hello, I am an 18 year old african american male. I am a track and field athlete and up until recently I have been a dominant force in the sport. But around fall of 2017 my body started to feel very different. My best season was spring of 2017 but I also suffered an acute kidney injury at the time but rebounded within two weeks. I then suffered a hamstring injury that summer which prevented me from running for about two months. But when I returned in fall, practice was noticeably harder then usual. The season of 2018 was difficult and I had to push harder then usual while feeling more fatigued then I ever did before. I was not able to come close to any of my personal best that season either. That spring I also injured my other hamstring. Fall of 2018 was the same story. Practice was unbearable as if I was not an athlete at all. Fast forward to now, I am in the middle of my senior year track season and I am having the same results as my 2018 season if not worse. Some of my symptoms include tingling feet, chest tightness while running, dizziness after running, muscle soreness, muscle spasms, and shortness of breathe. The muscle tightness seems to be the most alarming as a slight jog instantly weighs down my entire body. I most noticeably feel tightness after a race when my arms and legs are almost numb and I feel disoriented. I never had this feeling in 2017 and was able to power through workouts while feeling as if I was in top shape. I haven?t slacked off, if anything i?ve worked harder then ever hoping all of this was just mental or I was out of shape but it feels like my body is deteriorating. I?ve had cryotherapy, massages, epson salt baths, i?ve tried it all my muscles are constantly fatigued and the pain is becoming unbearable. But I am planning on running track in college so unless I know what is wrong I cannot stop running. I?ve had blood work done twice and the doctors have said I have mostly normal results. The only abnormality was an elevated creatine kinase of 600. I don?t know who to go to next because I know something is wrong because my body has never felt this bad and my performances are no where near where they used to be. I haven?t changed diet or anything different from 2017. I just want my health back. Anything would help at this point. Thank you for your time I truly appreciate it.
