Hi doc, could you please enlighten me about functional dyspepsia. Epigastric burning pain also seem to be associated with it. If there is no ulcer, no gastritis, inflammation on clinical findings. Then what causes this type of dyspepsia? And are antacids used for it? Burning pain is usually related to acid irritation. So what happens in this kind of mechanism exactly?

Functional dyspepsia (fd) is a chronic disorder of sensation and movement (peristalsis) in the upper digestive tract. Peristalsis is the normal downward pumping and squeezing of the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine, which begins after swallowing if you smoke or drink and or eat untimely foods, intake spicy foods etc. Can cause functional dyspepsia.
