I recently done andrology panel 1 test in that I got result stating hiv I 2 ?non reactive ? but vdrl reactive -18 I have been prescribed for doxycycline and azithromycin for 30 days is it better to continue this I have no symptom of syphilis.

Hello. doxy is ok for trt of syphilis, if allergic to penicillin. Azithromycin is not recommended (cdc, atlanta). Duration of doxy is 2 wks for early syphilis. I would not recommend taking azithromycin. However, please see that penicillin g remains the choice of trt if one is not allergic to pen. The duration of trt depends upon the stage of syphilis. As you say you have no symptoms you may have latent syphilis if you had syphilis in the past or the test may be false pos. Please ask your Dr. for reason not giving penc g.
