What is the difference between unproductively in ocd and unproductive in negative schizophrenia .i have ocd but when it comes to productivity issue I am confused btwn two .i do not bath ,do not brush and my mother is a schizophrenic but I do not have delusion n hallucination. Is it possible that an ocd patient do not bath and do not brush for months? I over come with ocd but my productivity is zero n my mother is also schizophrenic so I want to ask it .my ocd symptoms are ok 70% with clomipramine but productivity is still a big issue. I have tried all scars and stimulants and rpn and oleanz and qutipin but no significant differences in productivity or self care .is it the time to think about clozapine? My psychiatrist is helpless.

If you never had delusion or hallucination, it's not schizophrenia for sure. High percentage of OCD patient also suffer from depression which could be a reason behind productivity issue however detail history and evaluation needed to confirm the root cause. Don't get pessimistic, this problem it treatable once the root cause is identified. All the best

Dear Lybrate user ocd is a psychological disorder and it has psychological (mental and emotional causes) and many times patients are just managing the issues with medicines as the actual root causes are not resolved. Ocd is related to anxiety and also comes with stress depression and other thoughts and emotions so may be your mentioned problem is related to that only or may be it is some other issue.
