I am a male of 78. I am having diabetes for the last several years and I was able to manage it with a change in my food. As soon it was crossing the borderline I used to stop taking sugar, rice, and potato and it was back to normal. But now for the last three months, it is not coming down. I am not taking sugar for the last 5 months. My current reading is 143/205. I am worried I have taken glyciphage 500 for the last 3 months. But no reduction I want to have some homeopathic medicine which would help me in correcting it.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. I have seen the details. I am a diabetologist, have no idea about homeopathy. Since the query has come to me I am answering it. If you do not like my reply you may discard it. Diabetes mellitus is a hormone deficiency disease, where your pancreatic beta cells do not produce adequate quantity of insulin plus there may be resistance to its action (insulin resistance, ir). This means some specific treatment needs to be given which - 1) stimulates insulin secreting cells to produce insulin, help glucose removal from blood to cells (muscles and tissues). 2) reduces ir, helps improve its action. In addition there is a need for adapting modified life style, that is taking proper restricted diet, avoiding sweets, deep fried foods, pastries, junk foods, bakery items and foods made from maida. Increasing intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Using whole grain flour for roti and chapati. In plus avoiding alcohol and increasing the intake of fibers. Plus exercising for over 1 hour so as to keep glucose in control. Plus avoiding alcohol and smoking. For treating diabetes only specific medicines are available with modern medical therapy. The other therapies even though claim a lot without any clinical evidence, so it is your decision how to go about. Thanks.
