For some years now ever since I started getting my annual checkups and blood my serum utica acid has been hovering around 450 -475 micomolesperlit values (this what they use in uk) and the reason they started doing those were I had one episode of gout initially around 3 years back ever since things have been ok until recently where I had 2-3 episodes in a span of 3-4 months and my last reading was 467 in jan 2019 the latest episode was not diagnosed as it was not only on big toes where callus existed but also on back of my heel and pain in heel too where one gp said it?s gout, I got 3rd time lucky he said I will have to go on allopurinol 100 mg 3 times a day till the levels come to 300 I am a bit worried about going on a medication. What do you suggest? Ever since he told me I am consciously drink 2-3 lit of water and low purine diet and the recent episode has subsided do you think with my position and maybe my genetic predisposition this would work or tablet is the only option, I do get joint pain and calf pain at time but nothing massive my liver and kidney function is normal any advice will help.
