I had sex with hiv positive person 30 days back, used condom but it was broken, then I am in pep for 28 days, used viraday tablet, course completed and tested for std, hiv is negative, herpes report igm is 0.5 and igg is 8.4, this is positive and worried about what to do now, this initial stage it is curable? I don't have any symptoms, please guide me if I need to take any tablet right now. Thank you.

Hello dear Lybrate user. Please see that hsv ig g in high titer may indicate an old past infection and can be due to either of 2 hsv ie hsv1 (very common, mostly non-sti) or HSV 2 (mostly sexually transmitted). The common available test do not diffetenciate between high titers of antibodies due either to hsv 1 or 2. hsv 2 is mostly associated with signs/ symptoms in genital areas and can be subclinical too. (no signs symptoms appear like it's with you now) at this moment you need not worry about HSV and no need to take any meds for HSV. If HSV 2 was transmitted it may show recurrence later on but is well treatable. However please note that HSV 2 infection increases the sexual transmission risk of HIV. Thanks.

Pep should be taken with in 72 hrs igg indicates old infection if you have any vesicles then you can use treatment for hsv repeat hiv test with hiv duo.
