My daughter has severe scoliosis and was seen by a specialist when she was 12 and was told she would probably outgrow it (she didn't) and I understand that he didn't recommend surgery as she was still growing. But he also didn't recommend a brace, which I believe would have possibly corrected her condition to some degree, at least insofar as maybe she'd have less pain today (she is now almost 28) he gave her a few exercises to try and that was it. By age 18-19 she hadn't improved and was steadily getting worse, now has extreme pain and tmj which I found out could quite possibly stem from the scoliosis. Of course, as you might suspect, she has no medical insurance, and she's married and lives in oregon now. The scoliosis doctor we saw was in florida, where I still live I don't know what to do next as far as trying to give her advice to get help. I gave her a few agencies to check, and she is so young and I hate to see her in such pain. She is going to a place to get her tmj checked out, and I am thinking she should make a consult appointment asap for scoliosis doctor since that could be the root of the problem. Please--any advice, and also if you can give the names of resources that can possibly help a young married woman with no medical insurance and no children--and moderate income, not enough to qualify for government freebies, and maybe a little over guidelines to get decent insurance.

Madam, her tmj pain need not be due to scoliosis now that her growing age is over you can take a fresh standing x-ray and get the primary and secondary curve assessed. If the cobb's angle is too much she can think of surgery treatment depends on whether she had any structural anomalies or is it idiopathic one for most part she should improve with exercises for the back respiratory system under guidance from a good physiatrist.
