I am 28 weeks and 5 days pregnant, is too much folic acid bad? I have been taking sysfol active and nokifer together. Doctor has told me to stop taking sysfol active. Please let me know if overdose of folic acid is harmless.

Folic acid toxicity happens when someone takes > 500 mg. For example if you have taken both these tablets in a day. Each have only 5 mg in so taking a total of 10 mg would have not caused any problem to you but taking 5 mg is enough so choose one among the 2 brands which is well tolerated by you.

Please follow the advice of your doctor. Excess folic acid is expelled out of the body through kidneys via urine. So nothing to worry about.
