My 2 month old baby is formula fed. Usually he goes to poop only once or twice a day. Since two days he is going for poop frequency 5 to 6 times a day and I have observed little mucus in it but poop is not liquid and is normal. We are giving mucolite for cold. Please suggest what to do.

Two months old child doesn't need anything apart from breastfeeding. Here for reasons best known to mother, child on formula feed, should not have any problems, if sterility is maintained. Five, six times normal motions is not a cause of worry, particularly if urine output and activity of the child is normal.

Hi, it is advised to give breast feeding alone up to 6 months .if you are giving formula due to some reasons you can very well start breastfeeding . causes for the increased frequency of stool may be due to not preparing the formula properly. you have to follow the instructions given in the formula pack. generally it is given as - mix 30 ml of clean water (boiled and cooled ) with one spoon (given in the pack) . do not mix sugar or honey . if problem persists then change the new bottle ,nipple .
