Hi, I have talked to my doctor about this but I did not get a good answer. Since september 2017 I have been taking sertraline and I have taken 300 mg for almost a year. It's a high dose. My question is can I take 300 mg during an entire pregnancy? Before, during and after? I have read studies on sertraline and pregnancy and it says that the mother should continue with her medicine if it affects her wellbeing a lot. Which it does for me, I feel so much better with sertraline. However, I have not found any information about the dose. Does it affect the fact that I take 300 mg or is the dose not important in this matter? Thank you!

Sertraline is us fda category c drug. It can be given during pregnancy if it's benefits outweigh it's risk. It's a relatively safe antidepressant and is preferred to be given during pregnancy if required. There are no substantial studies to prove that it has teratogenic effects on human fetus, but a few studies state that babies exposed to sertraline in early pregnancy have a slightly increased chances of heart defects. If taken during the last month of pregnancy then after delivery baby may have some withdrawal symptoms. Its maximum dose should be 200 mg. You should consult your doctor and if your condition necessitates the intake of sertraline then the dose reduced, dose reduction should be gradual.
