I am a 24 years old female. Three years ago, I got pregnant with a copper iud in place (it had not migrated) after 5 months of use. After having serious side effects with birth control pills, my doctor suggests going back to copper iud. But I am worried I might be at higher risk of iud failure given my history. Is previous pregnancy with an iud a contra-indication to iud use?

The previous pregnancy with an iud is not a contra-indication to iud use. There is no additional reaction and this is very safe contraception. You may also consider non-hormonal pill saheli once a week which is easier to use and has no side effects.
