I hav done std test and I hav got negative result after 43 days of exposure is that sure. I done immuno chromatography test for hiv. And it is negative after 43 days is this relif. Becoz I am worried too much. Plzzz tell me about this. Is this confirm that I am not having hiv.

Hello. A 4th generation combo test (antigen/ antibody fda approved test) will detect hiv inf in 95% of cases by the test done after 4 wks of suspected exposure if infected. So a negative result by 4th gen combo test is atleast a good sign of potential non infection. However as per the current guidelines a follow up test at 90 days is really needed to be sure of hiv negativity. Again, the same 4th gen combo test will detect hiv antibodies in 99.9% of cases by 90th day of suspected exposure if infected (the entire window period for the test) thanks. Best wishes.
