I drank ethinyl estradiol levonorgestrel as emergency contraceptives last week. As said, I took the medicine within 72 hours after sex, though, it only said I should take 2 dosages of 4 pills (12 hours in between, but I also took another 2 dosages with the same method the day after. I don't think I overdosed to any extent though. My worry is that, does it make it less effective? And why haven't I got any of the withdrawal bleeding yet? Can it cause delays of period as well? And am I save from pregnancy? Thank you ,please answer.

Hi, emergency contraception is 85-90% effective in preventing pregnancy. Taking an extra does not decrease it's effectiveness as long as you take the recommended dose within 72 hours. It can cause irregularities in periods including delayed periods. You should perform a urine pregnancy test if your periods are delayed.
