I am 29 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with cervicitis and my doctor prescribed cefasyn 500. Is this antibiotic safe for me to take because I just read about it and it raised some red flags for pregnant woman. Please advice.

Cefasyn 500 tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies.

Hello. What were your symptoms? Very rarely we encounter cervicitis in pregnancy. Anyways, cefasyn contains cefuroxime and is safe to be taken in pregnancy if the conditions require.

Its supposed to be the safe antibiotics as its category b which means safe in well controlled studies in animal s and not enough randomized control trials in human to prove it safe.
