Hello Doctor, I am 59 female have diabetes take glycomet 500 mg/50 twice daily I suffer from inflammatory bowel disease so take provided the diabetologist advised more protein in the form of days and less carbohydrate therefore I tried taking more moong dal and less rice I have severe abdominal discomfort and I am unable to sleep at night looking forward to advise on diet to help with diabetes but not affecting my ibd could I be having pancreatitis? As my father had surgery fir removal of pancreas what tests should I undergo to confirm pancreatitis please? Thank you for your time rose.

Pancreatitis can be suspected if there is acute severe upper abdominal pain with tenderness,elevated pancreatic enzymes specially amylaze and lipase, increaeed fat content in stools,ultrasound whole abdomen and if required CT scan and MRI abdomen.
