I am 28 year male diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder in 2015, since then I am on medication, at that time my psychiatrist had advised me that I have to take these medicines lifelong {dose can be decreased}.so from past 3 months I have stopped taking medicines and I am feeling pretty fine. So I just want to know that should I start taking medicines again or I can stop it{as symptoms could get relapse}. These are medicines I was on, lametec dt 100 dayo od 500 lurakem 40 desilam 10 calmtra 10.

Dear lybrate-user, Please follow your psychiatrist's advice. Even if you have stopped and felt fine, consult the psychiatrist. She/he will advise properly knowing how often you have a relapse, how long the relapses last and how severe the symptoms are, etc. Without those details, it is difficult for me to advice.

We understand that you have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and it is not unusual that people with this problem take medications for a very long time, probably for a lifetime. However, like your psychiatrist has rightly advised you might want to decrease the dose to find out how you function on a daily basis while being on the lower dose before going further.
