Dear lybrate-user, disulfiram tablets needs to be taken with full information on its reaction with alcohol (irritation, red eye, breathlessness, chest pain, etc). Since disulfiram causes only aversion to alcohol, the craving to consume alcohol will continue to be there. For that your brother will need one of the anti craving tablets for 9 - 12 months. He also needs motivational enhancement therapy weekly for at least 12 weeks initially. There is no need to increase disulfiram dose to 500 mg.
