My father is above 85 years in age, he regularly develops gout in his toes and tie fingers which pain a lot from last 48 hrs he has again got the same problem may be because of high level uric acid in his blood kindly suggest me what medicines should be given at this age and the amount of dose.

1. Is he already on any uric acid lowering agents? Like allopurinol/febuxostat 2. Is he is having recurrent flares - ideally uric acid loweing drugs should be stopped and he must take colchicine/indomethacine for pain relief. 3.
