Hi Doctors, One of my family member has stone in gall bladder and it is detected a month ago. Please suggest if that can be resolved using medicines or operation is necessary. Thanks.

Two person of general population have gall stones. If there are no symptoms (silent stones), no treatment is required unless patient develops pain fever or jaundice. If patient has diabetes and similar ailments surgery is recommended even for silent stones. The symptomatic (nonsilent stone) patients are recommended surgery. Timing and type of surgery depends on the stage of the disease.
