I have been suffering for shortness of breath since 1 and half month. I have hypothyroidism since 3 years and you sing thyrorich 50 mcg. 1 month ago I was diagnosed with diabetes. I had hba1c 8.4. I'm using reclimet 500+60 mg from one month. I'm allergic to to dust, smoke,chalk powder, perfumes. I have shortness of breath while walking briskly and climbing steps. I getting cough and phlegm also. I'm unable to take deep breath. What could be the reason.

First of all, you need to monitor blood sugar level at home regularly at this point. High hba1c level clearly indicates that your blood sugar is poorly controlled. You should take action to improve your health. 2nd thing: your chest problem may be due to many reasons like acute or chronic bronchitis, asthma, copd, bronchiolitis, pulmonary edema etc. So, I need far detail history, clinical examination, radiology, pft and some blood tests! you need to consult pulmonologist at least one time.

Dear Ms. lybrate-user, hypothyroidism and diabetes both affect metabolic activities and normal functions of body. It would be advisable if you could get yourself following tests: 1. 2d echocardiography of heart and 2. Pft of lungs to rule out any cardiac or lung reasons of shortness of breath.
