I have been taking bupron xl 150 for the last one year, it was prescribed for my dysphoria. I had tried a lot of antidepressants before it but only bupropion helped me in regulating my mood. But recently I have again started feeling low a bit. Seems now bupropion helps me for 70% of my problem. My doctor tried putting me on bupron xl 300 but it did not give me additional benefits plus my anxiety slightly got increased. (given sufficient time). Thus my question is the salt i.e "bupropion" available in 50/75 mg preparation? I wish to add it along with my bupron xl 150 since 300 mg did not work much. Please suggest me a brand name for 50/75 mg. Thank you. I do not wish to go for therapies.

Bupropion is mostly available in the extended / sustained release formulations as bupron xl 150,300 or zupion sr or zyban etc but the same company which manufactures bupron xl 150,300,also has a plain burpon 100 mg. Thats the only formulation without a sustained release mechanism, so probably it can be used/ broken in half. There are no formulations for 50 or 75. Also please do not rely on self medication for safety reason. For long standing dysthymia, adding of a mood stabilizer in a low dose like lithium will help you with the remaining 30 % of the issue. Please consult a psychiatrist for the same.
