My mother who is aged 98 and going on 99 and had recently suffered low sodium levels. We did not know at first what the problem was but we could see that she would be confused and do things not normal in her routine. We had a geriatric care doctor visit and gave her sodium based solution through iv and sprung back to her normal routine within 24 hours. Her sodium levels was 136 and so was within range. We are now giving her soda mint tablets (300 mcg) 3 times a day to keep her sodium levels as normal as it can get without any other medication. She is in good health otherwise and very conscious about her diet and very disciplined in her eating habits. She can do all her daily routines on her own and we just make sure that all her daily requirements are met how often do we need to check her sodium and blood cbc tests to make sure her sodium level is ok? Does she need any other salt supplement? Is soda mint - 300 mcg 3 times a day is ok for her? We would like to see her celebrate her 100th birthday as she is in good shape and looks more like 80 year old. Thanks
