I am 53 years male. My uric acid levels are always near 7.0 since child hood days. Now I have swollen toe. Not healing by antiinflamatory drugs. Checked my uric acid it was 7.9. Shall I start febutaz 40 once a day.

Mr Mahesh Kumar, Thanks for the query. With uric acid at 7.9 mg/100 ml and having swollen great toe, means you have gout. In that situation along with anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs you need a drug to reduce uric acid. So you may start it. Also please avoid purine containing foods like red meat, organ meat and sea foods. Plus refrain from alcohol, sweetened aerated drinks (colas) and smoking. Thanks.
