My psychiatrist doctor suggested this tablet for my kid who is 3 years old having some characteristics of autism say aggression very rarely and currently experiencing speech delay and lack of social interaction. initially for 3 weeks daily 1/2 tablet of 0.5 mg every night. Later post 3 weeks suggested to give 1 tablet for 5 weeks. 1. My doubt is that in future kid should not get addicted to it for taking sleep etc. Will this happen? 2. Is sizodon md 0.5 and t. Sizodon 0.5 both are same? 3. Is it recommend for 3 years kid?

Sizodon is a safe and approved drug for children with autism. It is not known to cause any addiction, but as autism is a chronic condition, he may need it in long term. Sizodon and sizodon md are same but to the best of my knowledge, risperidone (0.5) is marketed only as sizodon md or risdone mt. Only drugs might not be helpful in treatment of autism and behaviour therapy is often nneded. So consult clinical psychologist along with the psychiatrist.

The psychiatrist has suggested correctly about the medication. Low dose sizodon (risperidone) is used for children with autism and behavioral problems. Try to get hold of a mot pediatrics (pediatric occupational therapist) and a team of psychiatrist/ clinical psychologist/ ot and speech therapist for multimodal treatment of autism. Good luck.
