Hi lybrate-user. Lorazepam is frequently prescribed in alcohol withdrawal cases but as a rule it should be slowly tapered off and stopped in few days. Otherwise there is a risk of addiction to this drug as it may have happened in your case. But no need to worry as treatment of lorazepam addiction is available and I would suggest you visit a good psychiatrist for the treatment. It would also help you in improving other symptoms you have. It may take a bit long time for treatment (6 to 12 months) but with patience and good treatment you will definitely come out of this.

Lorazepam is used for de addiction from alcohol, but it is given for a short time, few weeks only. If you have become addicted to it you need to consult a psychiatrist and you can be weaned away from that suggesting alternates and then stopping them too. Good luck.
