A 30 year old friend had an evacuation (top) done and a subsequent scan after two weeks to confirm it. It was seen via the scan that her uterus had been perforated and her omentum was passing through the perforation. She has been booked for a surgery in a week time. She has abdominal cramps and a little difficulty in passing out stools. Her ovaries were not affected. Will she have any complications. Will she be able to conceive again after the surgery. Thanks.

It is definitely unfortunate that such a complication has occurred but is not an uncommon one. As to your question, the recovery is quick and she should be able to conceive again. But there is also a fair chance that adhesions occur inside the uterus which may prevent pregnancy but if she conceived early that may not happen. Make sure you report any change in pattern of periods to your doctor after this surgery that you are going for.
