Dear lybrate-user, loss of sex drive and extreme mental confusion can be due to hypothyroid and other hormonal status. Both can occur in, ineffectively treated depression also. Ventab at 25-50 mg dose may not have such long term side effects. In low dose, it may not be effective. It needs to be increased to effective dose instead of making it half. Since yours is a recurrent depression, probably the diagnosis need to be reviewed so that you can have the benefit of mood stabilisers, if necessary. However it has to be done regularly with frequent visit to both psychiatrist and endocrinologist. Â

Dear lybrate-user sorry to know that you have so many health issue, and hope to get well soon. 1. First of all please do something for your weight. In general diet control and adequate physical exercise should help even if you are hypothyroid and on ventab which may increase your weight. 2. You described a & b symptoms in text. It may be due to depression or hypothyroidism or both, but appears more due to depression as it is of few months duration. 3. It appears that reduction of ventab tab is now not protecting you from depression thus symptoms are erupting. 4. People with hypothyroidism are at risk of relapse of depression any time, and depression may worsen hypothyroidism. I feel you should resume ventab 50 mg and see if helpful. When you are symptom free for long time again give a try to taper it off. Adequate physical exercise is very essential for depression, hypothyroidism, obesity and overall health. Altroxin should be continued regularly as long as it advised to take. Â
