I was taking divaa-od 500 and solian-100 from the last six years but I feel sleeplessness and remember old talks and go into thoughts and see fearful dreamsnow I do not want to use these tablets. How do I do.

Dear Lybrate user, it seems that you have been taking these medicines since many years. It means you had had one or more episodes of mood disturbance in the past. Those details and your subjective experience during that time, and objective observation made by the people near to you is not available. They may give an exact picture of the problem for which you have been started on these medicines. It is obvious that you seem to have disturbance in your biological functions like sleep disturbances and disturbances in mood even now. We don't know whether these disturbances have started recently or persisting since the beginning of your problem. If it is existing from the beginning ,it says that your psychological disturbances are not under complete control. If it is a recent onset one, it means that you are developing some worsening or recurrence of your previous problem. In both the cased the medicines need to be continued and adjusted according to your need. Stopping the medicine at this point in time is questionable and not advisable. I don't know how much you have understood about the problem for which you are treated. But you need to. Discuss with your doctor and get to know about the nature of your illness like whether this is a continuous illness or episodic illness, the possibilities of future recurrence etc. Psychotropic medications may cause side effects like any other drugs. The drugs which you are taking may cause some side effects like increased sleep, tremers,slowness, weight gain, hair loss ,some disturbace in the sexual functioning, etc. But the disturbances which you have mentioned ,need not be the medicine related side effects. On the other hand it may be due to inadequate control of your exisisting problem or an exacerbation. Some psychological disorders may need continuous and long term medications to keep your problems under control or to prevent further worsening. So better you reconsider your mind set about stopping the medicines, because many of us are taking long term medicines for many common medical conditions like diabetes and hypertension etc. Discuss with your doctor about your current situation. He/she can make better judgements about your medication need based on your longitudinal history and the current disturbances. Feel free to discuss with him about the side effects you may be facing. He may be able to help you to alleviate those problems. Otherwise don't try to stop the medicines on your own just because of the boredom, monotony or an irritation you feel about a long term medicines. Realize the fact that the medicines are given to you with a purpose of making your life more stable. Stopping the medicines without the knowledge or consent of the doctor may only lead to some negative outcome. So sit and discuss with your doctor to find out an appropriate solution for your current problem. Your quality of life can definitely be improved with some modification of medicines, your lifestyle and particularly your mindset i.e your attitude towards your illness and medicines. Try to accept the fact that you have a psychological problem which needs medications like many others in the world. You are not alone. I agree that having a psychological problem might gave had some impact in the course of your life. But still you have an opportunity to make your life more meaningful and productive. Accepting the reality and getting accustomed to that is the key. Please don't keep on struggling with yourself and contemplating about the treatment course. Don't blame on your fate. Try to feel contented and don't compare yourself with others and feel distressed. Find out your assets and cultivate it.
