My son is 3 years and not talking yet, he walked and craweld late too. He has been taken to paediatric neurologist and they wanted to do intelligent test and hearing test before recommending speech therapy, they feel he just has developmental delays and mild issues. I'm worried tho, can. I use the drug encephabol for him as i'm worried. Or is there any other recommendations you can give. Thanks.

I agree that hearing test must be done first because that is a common cause in such cases. Speech therapy will be needed. About drugs and other requirements, I would need to review the case before commenting.

First you need a hearing assessment done by bera. After that developmental screening needs to be done to identify developmental delay. Speech therapy n stimulation theory is required.

Your doctor is right. If baby has history of delayed cry after birth then a ct/mri may be helpful.

Encephabol is not recommended in pediatrics use yet. Your baby probably has developmental delay. A neuroimaging will show the extent of involvement. Hearing assessment and few more tests maybe necessary. He maybe started on sessions with speech therapist and special educators. Physiotherapy may also be required.

Hi delayed development (mild) which usually matches the peers as child grows, is common in premature, low birth weight babies and sometimes no cause can be found. Hearing test is very important (although hearing defect is uncommon but if detected and treated early long term outcome is good) and I suggest you to follow the advise of your pediatric neurologist. Although there is no major side effect of encephabol, but I request you not to give any medicine without prescription. Regards.

Hearing test first of all to be done (bera test ). Language/ speech therapy accordingly. Mri brain is superior to ct scan brain also to be done to see any structural lesion defect. A case of developmental delay. Physiotherapy needed to improve the gross motor developmental delay.
