Hi lybrate-user, there might be some infection so doctor prescribed cefixime. Sometimes in infection mucus discharge present which may last long occasionally. Do not worry if your child is playful and has gained weight. You must continue breast feeding and stop formula powder. Do not worry if weight is good. Give zinc drops forv14 days. Thanks.

If there is no reducing sugar in stool then no need to give isomil. Continue exclusive breast feeding for 6 months. Interval between 2feeds should be atleast 2-3 hrs. You can take any type of healthy food.

For a specific diagnosis of lactose intolerance or cow milk protein allergy (in which breast feeding is discontinued. Certain investigations are required. Green coloured stools is normal. Blood in stool may be caused due to several causes including the above mentioned causes or infection, rectal polyp, rectal ulcer, improper formula dilution etc. But, stopping breastfeeding without a confirmation may not be advisable. The benefits of breastfeeding will not be obtained in that case. In case cow milk protein allergy is diagnosed, then mother should refrain from consuming milk or milk products. Any other case, since the baby is breastfeeding. The mother should consume a healthy balanced diet, almost 1&1/2 times of amount consumed before pregnancy.
