My baby is 6 month old. He is heavily constipated. His stool is very hard. The stool quantity is very low and hard. He almost cries during passing stool. This made him very fussy all the time and refusing to eat also. He is currently halving cerelac, breast milk, formula milk (dexolac), and rice and dal. What to do?

Hi lybrate-user, you should stop formula milk. Continue breast feeding and give dal water, rice water, mung ka water. You should 1st start with one then every week you should add other things. 3 to 5 times in a day you should give complementary feed. Give more water based things so constipation would not be an issue. Do thyroid report if constipation is since birth. Â

It's a very common complain among parents for their babies, specially when the baby starts weaning (first foods). It can be due to many factors or causes which can be as simple as reaction of infant's bowel to newly introduced foods to as complex as anal fissures.
