Ten days ago I noticed a hard lump in the area outside my anus. I was very constipated at the time and it hurt (like a burning feeling). I thought it could be hemorrhoids because I have internal hemorrhoids (never external) and because my father has them. I started taking daflon (diosmin) because I was prescribed that in the past, and the pain disappeared and the lump is now smaller (about 40-50% smaller after 10 days). Is this normal? Should I be worried? How long does it take to go away? Should I break quarantine for a doctor appointment or can it wait?

This looks like a small abscess to me which could lead to fistula. Though harmless and not an urgent problem you can wait for a couple of weeks. Meanwhile an antibiotic and warm diluted dettol water bath should do the trick. Â

Probably you had a thrombosed external haemorrhoid. So, it is normal to have such a course of recovery. Kindly add sitting in warm water with 10 ml of betadine liquid in it (hot seitz bath). It will definitely help you more till you can visit a surgery clinic. Thanks. Â

Hello, Mr. lybrate-user! how are you? I read your complaints. You have the past history of similar complaint with constipation. As per your complaints, you must be having fissure in ano with external haemorrhoids. Take plenty of water/ liquid, high fiber diet, pain killer, light diet to prevent further constipation. Give a warm water bath to anal region twice a day. Try these things for 4-5 days. Usually you may have relief. If not, better you consult any general surgeon or gi surgeon. Best of luck! Â

Hi. Thanks for your query. Most probably it should be a prolapse internal haemorrhoids. You should do sitz bath 10 - 15 minutes daily and apply cremagel h oientement three times daily. If constipation persist you can take duphalac syrup 30 ml at bed time after dinner. You can take high fibres diet and green vegetables and plenty of water and liquid daily and avoid spicy food. When your quirantine period is over you can consult for further examination. Â

Hi, thanks for your query. As per your history and symptoms, it looks like fissure in ano along with your pre existing haemorrhoids. The swelling / lump might decrease in size but it's unlikely that it will go away. Its due to hard stools and constipation that you have developed this its better to alter your diet and include more fibre rich foods, green leafy vegetables, fruits and drink more water. Please take sitz bath atleast twice daily. If you are still constipated take laxatives (syrup cremaffin plus 15 ml at night x 4 days). Also apply osil cream around anus before and after passing stools if the symptoms still persists, kindly see a general surgeon in your locality. Â

Dear lybrate-user, it seems ,you've developed a thrombus, in other words a blood vessel has ruptured in the hemorrhoid. If it is reducing in size, wait. Do some ice pack application. You can take a pain killer twice a day. If it increases in size or the pain increases you shud get it checked by a doctor. Â

Mostly it seems to be thrombosed external haemorrhoid, which will resolve on its own in few days. If not get yourself examined properly by a general surgeon to rule out other diseases. You can take sitz bath and apply xylocaine jelly locally.Â

Hello user, it might be a thrombosed external piles or a small evolving abscess. You can take antibiotics for 3-5 day along with stool softener and sitz bath. Possibly it will help and you need surgeon advise for further management. Â
