I had a typhoid fever for nearly 2 weeks. The blood test showed s.typhi o- 1: 320 and s.typhi h- 1: 160. I took zanocin 200 mg tablet twice daily after meals for nearly 5 weeks. I stopped taking it a week ago since the doctor told me that i'm fully cured. After nearly 2 days of discontinuing the zanocin dose, i'm feeling mild but sharp pain in my bone joints all around my body, my ribs are sore, I have a swollen painful lymph node under my jaw and mouth ulcer for more than a week now. Is this the possible side effect of the antibiotic? My hemoglobin is 11.4 (low)

Hi sir, recovery from a typhoid fever is always a painful and slow process. Body pain, stomach upsets, nausea are very common upto 2 weeks post treatment. Mouth ulcers can be due to deficiency in micronutrients due to 1.less absorption of micro nutrients by intestines during the fever period, also 2.due to bland food during the fever.(which lacks nutrients) I hope doctor has given a multivitamin tablet to continue now, if not please buy one, eg: tab. Zincovit or tab. Atoz others also available in pharmacy. Do not worry, ul soon be fine, its very common with typhoid or lepto fevers, so do not worry.
