Hello lybrate-user! depending on the medical conditions ,which you are suffering ,definetily zempred is not the suitable drug if used for a long period of time. But however ,a short course and that too zempred8 mg is a mild dosewill not cause any side effects. Always try to discuss your health issues with your dermatologist treating you such that the medicines will be prescribed accordingly. According to literature, systemic steroids are the first line of choice for treating alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is an auto immune inflammatory disease affecting the hair follicles. I request you to consult your dermatologist doctor as early as possible and discuss all your health isssues and get an alternative medication for your hair problem.
