I went through a iud inserterstion 2 months started spotting after weeks of insertion from 24 april to 8 may after meeting the doctor only spotting stopped she give pauses, triquilar 21, another table to take before food for 30 days after starting that tablet stopped spotting for 8 days and again started on 28 my triquilar 21 as completed till now I am spotting any suggestions plz.

Hi lybrate-user. Spotting is a side effect of iud insertion. It ll reduce by itself usually few months after insertion. But if you feel it is not comfortable, get it removed. Let me know clearly when did you start taking triquilar 21. Because if you miss taking tablet even for a single day then the spotting will not stop. You can try with same medicines for 1-2 months more as cut takes time to get settled in some women. After 2 months also if the same problem continues and all your other hormonal investigations like tsh prolactin are normal then you can go for removal of cut.

Hi, Lybrate user, only take one contraceptive measure at one time. If using an iud then don't use triquilar. If it's not inserted properly or even otherwise can lead to spotting. So get an ultrasound done and see the position of the iud. If not correctly placed get it out. Now if using triquilar then spotting can occur if a tablet had been missed. So has to be taken regularly and daily.

Some patients may develop spotting after iud insertion. It can be controlled with tab. Tranexamic acid. There is no need to add a trphasic pill,(triquillar) when you are already wearing iud.
