Hi, i've pcod since I was 15. I'm 158 cm tall, weigh 64 kg, age 27 years. I took krimson 35 pills, ovaflo sr, metformin tabs for 6 months in 2019, then I stopped since jan 2020, and i'm taking homeopathic medicines now. I got periods only in april for 4 days, since jan. I still got no periods. I took these oral contraceptive pills for pcod treatment in 2018 also, but as soon as I stop these medicines, I do not get any periods for months. I've some facial hair and acne. My question is: what is worse, not getting periods for 3-4 months or living on these birth control pills to get regular periods? Please help. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user. I understand your problem. Pcod is very difficult to be treated. There is no particular treatment for it. Still research is going on. But there are few combination drugs like hormonal and non hormonal treatment shows few symptoms improved. - life style modification is very important. Eating healthy (low fat, oily food and avoiding fast food etc) and doing exercise for 1-2 hours everyday.-u should reduce 4-5 kgs of weight according to your height. Once you follow all these you ll start having regular cycles and improve your pcod. Main important thing to treat pcod is lifestyle changes. Medical treatment is secondary. - I need few investigations thyroid test, cbp and usg pelvis scan. Follow up with these tests then we can plan your treatment accordingly.

Lifestyle modification is the best management in case of pcos. U should look after your diet, include regular exercise in your routine, remove stress from your life, try to bring your weight near 55 kg, things will start working in your favour. Not getting regular periods can increase the risk of endometrial cancer. If your not married, oral pill can be a treatment.

You have excess male hormones because of pcod. The hormone level has to be corrected to get regular cycles with ovulation. When you get married laparoscopic ovarian drilling will be a better option. This is a correctable disease. Don't worry, you will be normal soon. If you need further details contact me through lybra.

See the treatment of pcod is birth control pills mainly and apart from them other drugs can be added in addition but for you since you r having acne and hirautism also better to take diane 35 kind of pills. Don't take it regularly. U can take for 6 months and give a break for few months. For pcod patient getting periods once in 2-3 months is expected only so dnt panic. Keep doing exercises and avoid stress.
