Hello doctor, I am a 20 year old female and for the past one week I have been experiencing this constant dull pain in the region across my left breast area. I have inspected by breasts thoroughly and I don't think there are any lumps but this pain is not going away. First the pain started in the left side above the breast and now I can still feel it. It is like a stinging dull constant pain. Should I be worried?

You are young age. These pains in breasts are a common normal symptom around your menses. It's called breast tenderness and occurs in almost all females before and during time of menses. Can be part of pms. However if the pain is long standing and not going away, or is associated with any swelling, redness, pain etc it may be some inflammation. Check in your underarms too. If you are feeling any lumps or pain there. If you have fever too then I suggest you take a course of antibiotics for say 5 days. That will reduce the inflammation if it's there. If no fever or other symptoms other than pain then it may be what we call fibromyalgia. Its very common it girls. Don't worry about it as it will subside. Just take any painkillers or even plain paracetamol 1 tablet daily for 5-6 days. The pain should reduce. Still if it's not subsiding then it's better to show to surgeon./ psychiatrist.
