Exclusive breast feeding is advised till 6 months, so no need to start supplements. Urine output is dependent upon intake and a well fed baby passes urine 6 times in 24 hours.

Dear patient, you may keep your child in close observation. Usually I advise the mother to breastfeed exclusively for the first six months. At first year, you may give half breast milk and then half semi solid / solid food until two years old, after which breastfeeding can stop. In your case, first 6 months, breast milk is ideal for all your baby needs to meet his or her nutrition needs. Here, I believe, mother's health is more important for feeding her child. Take care.

A infant may pass urine 8-10 times in 24 hours. This is normal. If the baby has urine frequency more than that, especially if associated with excessive crying while urination or blood in urine. This maybe a symptom of urinary tract infection. Confirmation can be done by doing an urine routine microscopy and urine culture and sensitivity testing. And I cannot emphasize enough about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months. Apart from nutrition, it has a protective role for the baby. But if formula feeding cannot be avoided for any reason, proper dilution has to be followed.
