Mirtazapine is a good medicine for depression. It can be used long term. But it can increase appetite, so a diet control and sufficient daily exercise is a must. It doesn't have dependence or addiction. The dose can be reduced if there are no depressive symptoms for the last 12 months. There is no tolerance to mirtazapine. If you feel the depressive symptoms are reappearing, then the dose is not sufficient.
