According to lmp I was 8 weeks pregnant started spotting around that time. But scan showed am 5w2d. Gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal pole with a crl of 2.8 mm. No cardiac activity was seen. Doctor said it?s possibly because of late ovulation and implantation bleeding. I took second scan after 2 weeks but unable to compare both. It says 18 mm gestational sac seen with a tiny fetal pole. Doctor told to wait 2 more weeks. No bleeding or cramping. Is there still chance to see heartbeat? I was asked to keep susten vaginally and also prescribed hcg injection weekly once. Kindly advise.

Hi, first of all I am sorry you have to bear so much anxiety. A diagnosis of failed pregnancy can only be made after your gestational sac reaches a certain size and your cardiac activity is still not present. However in your case it's too early to say whether it's a failed or a viable pregnancy as your sac hasn't reached that size yet. Hence I would suggest you to take susten wait for another two weeks and get a scan as suggested by the doctor if even in that scan you have no cardiac activity, then it's likely that it's a failed pregnancy. Hope that helps.
