Hi, my father is suffering from cluster headache where he gets severe headache and pain in eyes causing tears. Neurologist prescribed zolmitriptan nasal spray, but no effect so far after using for 1 day. Could you please suggest some good effective medicine in ayurveda.

Cluster headache has a typical presentation as you have described. It could have been better if you could have mentioned the duration of suffering also. And it is true, cluster headache is very much incapacitating. In allopathic medicine, we broadly classify the treatment protocol into abortive and prophylactic categories. Abortive means to abort an acute attack and you will be surprised to know that a simple measure of oxygen inhalation through face mask for a period of 15 minutes has got the best evidence. So I suggest you to keep a oxygen cylinder at home. Plus otc pain killers can also be used. Prophylactic medicine to be started depending upon the symptom duration and the severity. It needs further detailed discussion.
