My mother 73 years old gets itching all over. She takes 1 telpres ct 40/12.5 in a day and no other medicine. Kindly advise.

Hello hope you are keeping safe 1) I understand your concern, and from your brief history it looks like your mother is having urticaria / hives, if the itching is followed by appearance of rashes that disappears within 24 hours. Here are the few reasons you can develope an itching do to urticaria - dental caries - urinary tract infection - frequent stomach pains - ear infections - any drug intake induced allergy - food allergy -. Allergy to any lotions or other products - any contact allergy 3) you can use - antihistamine like montelukast, levocetrizine, cetrizine to reduce itching - emollients to soothe the itching in the morning and afternoon - non-soap medicated cleansers for bath have this for 1 week and review. 4) please note that these medications are only for symptomatic treatment and the problem will persist if there a root untreated cause. 5) you can do the following investigations. - complete blood routine and hb - esr - ige levels - dental follow up to rule out caries - urine routine - liver function tests - kidney function tests. - iron levels you can also have itching due to underlying systemic problem like - liver dysfunction - kidney abnormalities - iron deficiency - xerosis or dryness of skin - thyroid abnormalities - diabetes mellitus 6) you can avoid these foods for a few days - meat and poultry products - dairy products - fish - pineapple - citrus fruits - nuts and chocolate - eggs - soy and wheat items - any self - suspected food for specific treatment and dosage, kindly be advised to revert back to me, to guide you properly through this.
