Hi, we were trying for pregnancy past 2 years, last month period got delayed for 20 days I took pregnancy test and it is negative so doctor prescribed me system five days and then I got my period on july 7 .my doctor told it may be due yo hormonal imbalance. This month I took clomid 100 mg for 5 days and again period got delayed. I am getting symptoms like white discharge, breast swollen, abdominal pain and in 34th days I did pregnancy test it is negative. Again doctor told me to take system for 5 days. I don't know what is happening why my period is getting delayed. My husband took semen analysis his sperm count is 13 million/mg. Could you please suggest.

For conception by naturally 3 things are needed- your ovary (checked by amh and afc), your tubes (checked by hsg) and your husband's semen. Your husband's count is slightly low. He should take antioxidant and repeat the test after 3 months. Now your age is 25, which is ok, because the most important factor which decides the chance of conception is the age. You probably have pcos. In pcos it's difficult to regularize period, if you want pregnancy. Still pregnancy is possible by treatment. The first important thing is to control weight. Reduce weight by diet and exercise. Regarding clomid, when you are taking it, it's important to do follicular study by tvs to see if your ovaries are actually responding to the medicines. If you respond, the chance of pregnancy is 10-15% per cycle. In such case, you should continue the medicine for 3-4 cycles. However, if you do not respond, as seen in tvs, there is no use of continuing the medicines months after months.

lybrate-user, I can understand your problem. But infertility treatment is so complex requiring history of both partners, investigations of both again, combined evaluation of both husband and wife. Above all both the partners should complete physical examination. Laparoscopy is the gold standard in female evaluation. Your husband has a low sperm count as per who criteria. Clomid is given for 6 cycles. There can be problems of breast tenderness with this as well as other hormones that you are taking. No need to worry If u don’t concieve after 6 cycles of clomid u may need IVF, But please get your tubes checked and ur partner semen analysed
