Dear doctor I have rosacea (redness all over my face and sometimes little pimples), but I also have old deep acne scars and do not know how to treat them. Are treatments that include injections safe for me? Like derma pen or scarlet. P.s I use kiehl's sunscreen for sensitive skin, avene moisturizer, bioderma cleansing and hyaluronic acid.

Hello hope you are keeping safe 1) from your history I take that you are already confirmed with acne rosacea. Please understand that there maybe various factors contributing to this - inflammation - vascular (blood vessel) involvement - hereditary - demodex mites - exposure to uv light (need to avoid) 2) steroidal creams should be avoided for acne as eventhough they lead to initial decrease in the inflammation, it tends to worsen or aggravate the condition in the next weeks. So completely stop the usage of steroids. 3) kindly be adviced to visit the dermatologist so that they can examine you and grade the severity. You may be accordingly put on a course of antibiotics preferably doxycycline, metronidazole gel / azelaic acid cream / tacrolimus ointment for local application. 4) you can also opt for cosmetic procedures such as - vascular laser - intended pulsed light - diathermy - sclerotherapy 5) please follow these measures - avoid hot and spicy food - avoid oil based skin products - protect your self from sun - keep face cool 6) you can continue the products you are using but avoid hyluronic acid until the flare up reduces, as it can irritate the skin also dermabrasion is good but can be avoided during the active phase of rosacea.
