Hi I am 36 weeks pregnant now but from 12 weeks I suddenly developed nose congestion. I went to see an ent, he said that I have deviated septum. And have to do surgery but only after delivering the baby. I do not have any sinuses pain .but the Dr. said you are having sinus too. But all these will disappear after two weeks of delivery. I has been more than 4 months now still m.suffering from nose congestion. Again I went to see the same Dr. he gave me naso clear nasal. Wash.singular tab. But nothing is working till date. M confused whether I will become fine or not. Pls help. Is it pregnancy rhinitis or something else. Mucus coming out is watery.

Nasal congestion , mucus discharge, difficulty in breathing , mouth breathing , sinus blocakage are all part of Nasal Allergy, deviated septum . In view of advanced pregnancy the usual approach of Nasal Endoscopy, Sinus X Rays, scan , antihistamine medications , probable Septoplasty, surgery under Local Anesthesia, other post operative medications etc are kept on hold , as there may be restrictions etc. Till then you may have conservative approach . Instilling warm saline water twice a day some breathing exercises like deep breathing , Yoga (Kapalbhati) may be tried. Allergy may be original or accompanying problem. Although medications are avoided in view of pregnancy and subsequent baby feed , Identifying the cause of allergy like dust, strong odor , domestic animals , cockroaches etc and avoiding identified is better cause. Mangement of present problem can be planned and treated systematically later.
