My 40 days old baby is having pus cell 80 _100/hbf the doctor advised cefixime oral suspension 50 mg/5 ml name is zifi 50 mg/5 ml can I give to my baby as show lot of side effects please guide regards jayesh mobile.

Urine infection can cause far more side effects and complications than medicine. Dnt think much. Guve full course of medicines to yoyears child.

Hello sir, main point is what symptoms your baby has? Because newborn and early infant life there are so many symptoms and lab value we can ignore only if baby is very much healthy. One more thing, doctor has prescribed this medicine definitely after finding some serious illness but if baby has side effects then you can definitely stop it and consult doctor again if any previous symptoms persist. Go by baby’s first clinical condition then consider reports. One more thing please give baby exclusive breastfeeding only it will help to get better in best way. Thanks.

Urine routine microscopy is suggestive of an urinary tract infection. A urine culture and sensitivity investigation has to be done for knowing the exact antibiotic to be used. Cefixime maybe given for the time being. But since your child is so young, some imaging studies may be required, especially if the problem is recurrent.

Yes you can, but in infant an infection can spread rapidly so get through cbc & crp also done, if on oral cefixime problem subside then ok, otherwise iv antibiotics has to be given.

Don't worry sir, years baby is suffering from urinary tract infection it needs to b treated by oral antibitics each medicine has its own side effect but each side effect does not appear in body. Like paracetamol for fever can cause hepatitis but we have to give it for fever likewise for other medication if you don't treat urinary tract infection than it will complicate.
