I am having cholesterols at border level/ or a bit higher level for the last two years. I have not started any medicines for it. However I have changed my life style and food habits strictly during these two years. I am also taking a walk of 10000 steps daily for the last two years. I have reduced a weight of about 18 kg during this period. I am not diabetic. I am taking amlopres at, zyloric 100 and ocid 20 one tablet/capsule daily during the said period. I am not having any bp/hypertension problem presently. My recent lipid profile report has also shown improvements.(total cholesterol is 187). My uric acid level which was a little higher is now in normal range. Kindly advice can I go ahead without taking any medicines for cholesterol and stop taking zyloric 100 as I have been told that it's use for longer periods is very harmful. Also advice how I can stop taking ocid 20 for which I am habitual and without taking it trouble me with a lot of acidity and gastric conditions/problems. Recently I am also feeling some pain on right low side of stomach/low back side at the time of sleeping while taking turns on sides. My recent platelets count is 143000. Kindly advice.

Total cholesterol of 187 is not that bad, but we need to take a look at your entire lipid profile to better judge any necessacity of medications. Zyloric should be adjusted based on other factors. The best I can suggest is talk to the Dr. who prescribed this to you to begin with. Your acidity could be due to stomach ulcers or infection. A gastroenterologist should be able to help you by doing an endoscopy and treating as needed. This way, you might be able to sustain without needing medicines for acidity.
